“Today I am proud to appoint William Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the country whose title I have had the privilege of bearing for much of my life and ministry. No comparison with mother-in-law Diana

This marks the beginning of a new era. There hasn't been a 'Princess of Wales' since Princess Diana died 25 years ago. Now Kate will bear this title – and thus be compared even more than before with her mother-in-law. A woman she never met in person.

But Kate makes it clear that she doesn't want to be reduced to being compared to Diana.
'The new Princess of Wales appreciates the history that comes with this role, but will understandably want to look to the future while pursuing her own path,' a royal source is quoted as saying by The Sun. 'The Prince and Princess of Wales will approach their roles in the humble way they have approached their work before,' it said. The couple are focused on deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time. (tma)
