Former King Juan Carlos' alleged son died unexpectedly

Albert Solà claimed for years to be the son of Spain's ex-king Juan Carlos (84) to be. Several Spanish media are now reporting the death of the man born in Barcelona in 1956.
'I think it was a heart attack'
According to the reports, Albert Solà died on Saturday (October 8) in a restaurant in La Bisbal d'Empordà. As witnesses report to the Spanish newspaper 'Ara', the waiter was in his favorite bar 'Pa i Trago' when he fell to the ground for reasons unknown. Those present called the emergency services, but any help came too late. 'I held him in my arms, he exhaled twice and started turning purple. I think it was a heart attack because my father, who also had one, died the same way,' explains a man who was there when Solà died. He was only 66 years old.
Supreme Court did not recognize DNA test
Albert Solà is no stranger to Spain. His lawsuits for recognition of paternity had made headlines in the country. The deceased claimed to be the biological son of the former king. 'Juan Carlos was 18 when he got my birth mother pregnant in Barcelona after the war,' Solà said in a previous interview. He was then raised in an orphanage before being adopted when he was eight.
He presented various pieces of evidence for his thesis. Among other things, he joined forces with Ingrid Sartiau – the two are siblings, they claim. Sartiau also publicly advocated being recognized as the illegitimate daughter of Juan Carlos. The Belgian allegedly even had letters that would prove the paternity of the old king.
In 2019, DNA test results were published that should confirm 99 percent that Juan Carlos is Albert Solà's father. However, the Supreme Court did not recognize this until his death. (tma)
