Queen Elizabeth II's funeral will be on Monday 19 September 2022 and will be a world event be. The Queen herself has prepared her funeral and example thrown the royal protocol overboard for their bagpipe player . The funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. local time (i.e. 12 p.m. German time). At the beginning, Big Ben will ring once.
Before that, at 10:44 a.m. (11:44 a.m. German time) the Queen's coffin will be carried in a procession from the British Parliament to Westminster Abbey, where it is expected at 10:52 a.m. (12:52 p.m. German time).
During the service Prime Minister Liz Truss and the Secretary General of the Commonwealth will give readings. Also praying are the Archbishop of York, the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, the President of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and the President of the Free Churches. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will preach. At the end the dean will give the blessing.
At 11.55 a.m. (local time, 12.55 p.m. German time) the horn signal of the “Last Guard” sounds – this is followed by two minutes of silence nationwide.
At 12 p.m. (local time, 1 p.m. German time) the national anthem plays and the service ends. After the service, heads of state and government officials will be escorted from Westminster Abbey to Church House, where Foreign Secretary James Cleverly will host a reception.
The pallbearers will then lift the coffin from the catafalque and carry it through the Great West Gate to the gun carriage outside. Following the coffin are King Charles and his wife Camilla, Prince William and Kate, and other members of the royal family. The coffin is carried in the procession from Hyde Park Corner to Wellington Arch.
Meanwhile, cannon shots are fired every minute and Big Ben rings.
At 1 p.m. (local time, 2 p.m. German time) the procession arrives at Wellington Arch. The pallbearers lift the coffin into the state hearse. As the float leaves Wellington Arch, the parade gives a royal salute and the national anthem plays.
Charles and Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales and members of the Royal Family will then drive to Windsor.
At 3:06 p.m. (local time, 4:06 p.m. German time), the hearse arrives at Shaw Farm Gate on Albert Road in Windsor and joins the waiting procession, which starts at 3:10 p.m.
At approximately 3:20 p.m. local time, the General Leaders and Prime Minister Truss will arrive at the west door of St George's Chapel. Minutes later, the members of the royal family who are not participating in the outdoor procession also arrive.
At 3:53 p.m. (local time) the procession stops at the foot of the west staircase of St. George's Chapel in the Horseshoe Cloister. The pallbearers lift the coffin from the hearse, from where it is carried in procession up the west staircase. At 4pm (local time) the service will take place in Windsor and the Queen will be buried in St George's Chapel.
So that Queen Elizabeth II next Prince Philip who died in 2021 , finds her last resting place, her husband is reburied. Both then lie in the family vault in the King George IV Memorial Chapel in the same place as their father, King George IV, their mother, Queen Mom, and their sister, Princess Margaret.
At 7.30pm (local time) King Charles will attend a private family funeral in the chapel.
Until Sunday, September 18, 2022, the public can say goodbye to their Queen in the British Parliament building. She was laid out there 23 hours a day for four days. Many royal fans wait up to 30 hours to pay their respects to their monarch .
