Is season two coming?

Among other things, the usually well-informed industry portal 'Deadline' recently reported that the fantasy series 'Willow', based on the film of the same name, has been canceled after just one season. Jonathan Kasdan (43), the showrunner of 'Willow', did not want to leave this very final-sounding message. On his official Twitter account, he qualified the news that there will be no second season.

The actual truth is 'less sensational,' says Kasdan, who also mentions the 'Deadline' site he values. As a result, the decision was made last week to 'open the door to our main cast for other series opportunities that may arise for them this year.' With the abundance of series and film productions around the world, it is 'unfair to restrict the availability of actors without being able to tell them when exactly you need them again'.

According to Kasdan, the only thing that is certain is that ''Willow' will not be filmed for the next twelve months.' He immediately reveals in his post that the scripts for a second season have apparently already been written and that this was also possible thanks to the great support from Disney, on whose streaming service Disney+ 'Willow' premiered at the end of last year. Under certain circumstances, fans of the fantasy hero's journey only have to wait a little longer for new episodes instead of writing them off completely.

Series came 35 years after the movie

In 'Willow' leading actor Warwick Davis (53) once again slipped into his most famous role of the magician Willow Ufgood. Approximately 16 years after the action of the original film, a new group of heroes led by returnee Willow embark on a perilous journey that will take them far beyond their usual homeland. The aim of the group of heroes is nothing less than to save the entire world.

Joining Davis for Willow are Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Amar Chadha-Patel, Dempsey Bryk and Joanne Whalley. The story idea for the original film 'Willow' from 1988 with Davis and Val Kilmer (63) came from 'Star Wars' creator George Lucas (78).
