Cindy Crawford's daughter Kaia Gerber says she has great 'privileges' amid the 'Nepo Baby' debate.

The 21-year-old model - who followed her mother Cindy Crawford, 56, into the modeling industry - admitted she had help in her career but also insisted her acting is her own work. 'Nepo babies', which comes from the English word 'nepotism' (German: nepotism), are currently being heavily criticized.

Kaia has now told Elle magazine's February issue that while she had certain advantages as a child of stars, she wasn't chosen for screen jobs because of her famous mum: 'No artist is going to sacrifice their vision for someone's child. Art just isn't made that way and what interests me is art. Yes, nepotism is rampant, but I think if that's actually what people make of it, we'd see more of it.'

Kaia, who is dating 'Elvis' actor Austin Butler, 31, spoke out amid growing criticism of Hollywood, Broadway and the music industry, which are increasingly being filled with children of the showbiz elite - including Lily Collins, Emma Roberts, Colin Hanks, Lily-Rose Depp, Margaret Qualley, Maude Apatow, Maya Hawke, Lourdes Leon and Leni Klum. Kaia added to 'Elle': 'I will not deny the privilege I have. Even if it's just the fact that I have a really great source of information and someone who gives me good advice, I feel very lucky on my own. My mom used to joke, 'If I could call anyone and book a Chanel campaign, it would be for me, not you.' But I've also met amazing people through my mom who I can now work with.'
