Michael Flatley (64) is the most commercially successful dancer and choreographer in the world. But all his wealth brings him nothing at the moment! Because the 'Lord of the Dance' inventor has now been diagnosed with an 'aggressive' cancer.
For a black and white photo in which the dancer stands with his back to the camera by a sea, his team writes on Instagram: 'Dear friends, we have something personal to share. Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. He underwent surgery and is being cared for by an excellent team of doctors. No further comments will be made at this time. We only ask for your prayers and good wishes.”
The Riverdance star battled skin cancer back in 2003 after a fan spotted the early warning signs during a TV appearance. However, he did not go public with this message until 2021. Overjoyed to have survived skin cancer at the time, he told the 'Sunday Independent' two years ago: 'So many people around me had cancer and so many people I know died from it.”
At the time, he said of his own diagnosis: 'I was diagnosed with skin cancer myself and it was a very scary time.' And further: 'I feel for everyone who lies on this bed and faces the uncertainty of the future. It can be a scary place.” (rsc)
Sascha Schlenz met Michael Flatley in December 2021 for his podcast ' TANZEN - The podcast about dancing “ for the interview in Munich and talked to him about his childhood, dancing and the new Lord of the Dance Show “25 years of standing ovations”.
