Supermodel was 56 years old

Tatjana Patitz (1966-2023) died at the age of only 56. Alongside Cindy Crawford (56) and Naomi Campbell (52), she was one of the first supermodels in the world in the 1990s. 'Tatjana was always the European symbol of chic, a mixture of Romy Schneider and Monica Vitti,' said Anna Wintour (73), editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine 'Vogue', which first reported on Patitz's death. The supermodel's agency later confirmed the message to several media outlets.

Shortly after becoming known, former colleagues, among others, contacted Patitz via social media to say goodbye. 'An angel left us,' wrote Eva Herzigova (49) on Instagram for a picture of the deceased. Hearing about the model's death was 'the saddest news I could have imagined'. Herzigova misses Patitz very much.

'So sad to hear about the death of beautiful Tatjana Patitz,' Crawford wrote about an old picture of the two on Instagram. They were 'babies in the fashion industry' together and she feels 'as if we grew up together'. The supermodels were in front of the camera for many photo shoots and often together backstage at fashion shows. Among other things, Crawford describes Patitz as 'sensitive, kind and curious - and who could ever forget those piercing eyes'. Crawford sends her condolences to Patitz' family, especially her son Jonah.

The Danish model Helena Christensen (54) said she was heartbroken in a clip in a story on Instagram. Patitz also had a 'beautiful mind,' she commented on a 'Vogue' post. Model and actress Amber Valletta (48) wrote there that the news was 'devastating'.

'Incredibly Fascinating, Cool, Natural Mad Woman'

'We are deeply saddened by the passing of Tatjana Patitz, a longtime friend of Peter's,' the Peter Lindbergh Foundation said in a post. This wanted to 'appreciate Tatyana's kindness, inner beauty and outstanding intelligence. Our thoughts are with her family and especially with Jonah. She will be missed immensely.' Patitz is best known for the photos taken by the late star photographer Peter Lindbergh (1944-2019). Again, Christensen commented: 'This is deeply, deeply sad.'

Presenter Frauke Ludowig (59) also said goodbye to Instagram for shared pictures. The model was an 'incredibly fascinating, cool, natural madness woman'. 'We met so often. Talked, filmed, laughed, talked about pubescent children, sat at the hairdresser's, shot a great advertising campaign, chatted through the night in Vienna. A few weeks ago we saw each other for the last time and now you're gone. At 56. I can't believe it.'
