It looks like the royal family has had a long time to get along the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926 – 2022) to prepare, but for her grandson William the news came rather suddenly. The new Prince of Wales said this during a public visit to a mourning site in front of Sandringham House in Norfolk. There he also spoke about the deja vu at the death of his mother Lady Diana, which he recently had at the funeral march for the Queen.

Prince William has revealed that walking behind his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II's hearse, was 'challenging' for him. The new Prince of Wales lined up behind the coffin of the deceased in a procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall on Wednesday afternoon (September 14, 2022). To everyone's surprise, his brother Prince Harry, with whom he has been at odds for months, ran right next to him . A moment that reminded William of his mother's death 25 years ago.

The images went around the world when the two brothers accompanied her coffin side by side at the funeral, their heads bowed. Princess Diana's funeral took place in September 1997 when Prince William was still a teenager. His mother died in a car accident in Paris.
