Almost two years after her birth, the time has come: Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatton-Windsor (1), the youngest offspring Prince Harry (38) and his Meghan (41) were baptized. But a lot has happened since she was born. The Queen has died, Harry and Meghan have emigrated and the British royal family is more fractured than ever. It was clear that guests from her ranks at Lilibet's christening were few and far between - but two royal ladies did not miss the invitation.
At the beginning of March, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan celebrated Lilibet's christening in a small ceremony in the Californian town of Montecito , her new adopted home. Only the closest family members were invited, about 20 to 30 guests. A spokesman for Harry and Meghan confirmed to People magazine, 'Princess Lilibet was christened on March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, Reverend John Taylor.'
Among the few invited guests were Prince Harry's closest relatives: King Charles (74), Queen Camilla (75), Prince William (40) and Princess Kate (41). Despite the invitation, they did not appear, but two other royals did: the two sisters of the late Princess Diana († 36), Lady Jane Fellowes (66) and Lady Sarah McCorquodale (67). Most recently, Prince William and Prince Harry appeared together with their aunts at the unveiling of the statue in honor of Diana 2021 in public. The brothers have had a close bond with them since the death of their mother.
Even if hardly any British royals were present - the family sticks together. Also present was Lilibet's grandmother, Doria Ragland (66) and her godfather, Hollywood actor Tyler Perry (53). The film producer even organized a gospel choir for his godchild. So the celebration was certainly a complete success even without the big royals. (you know)
