Sad news from Hollywood. The author and producer Zack Estrin (51) died completely unexpectedly. On September 23, he collapsed while jogging in Hermosa Beach, California and later passed away. The cause of death is believed to be cardiac arrest. He is said to have previously been in good physical condition.
In a statement, his wife and two daughters said: 'Zack Estrin was our be-all and end-all. Best husband, father, son and friend. He loved making everyone happy. He loved making everyone laugh. He loved being a writer/producer and helping to create these shows that people enjoyed. But most of all he loved his family and friends. Thank you for being a part of his life and ours.'
A former colleague of the deceased, Jon Feldman, also found touching words, telling Variety: 'Zack was joy - he was kind, funny, generous and warm. To those who were so fortunate to have him as a friend, his death is an unfathomable loss. He wasn't just a good guy, he was the best of them all.'
Zack Estrin graduated from USC and began his career in entertainment producing films such as Stranger Than Fiction and O, a contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello. He then switched to television and started a career as an author. His first works included the Hits „Charmed“ and 'Dawson's Creek'. He finally gained notoriety through the hit series, among other things 'Prison Break' and the Netflix-Serie 'Lost in Space' , which ran for three seasons from 2018 to 2021.
