The 48-year-old pop star traveled to the Spanish city in August for his first electronic music DJ gig and while he was hoping to emulate the success of Happy Mondays star Bez, he finally had to google what to say while he was live on stage.
Speaking to host Annie Mac on the 'Changes' podcast, the star said: 'Well, I showed up to a place called 528 on Ibiza for my first gig DJing electronic dance music. I figured what would happen when I did this dance project was I'd be a spectator, but on stage I just figured I'm the bez of this project, I'm gonna walk around the stage, vibes you know But what actually happened is when I showed up at the first gig there was 2,000 people in front of the stage just looking at me, there was hardly any movement and it was so awkward, it was so weird.' I googled, 'What to say DJ's?' while I was on stage because I didn't know what to do! [...] I didn't know what I was doing so I just repeated the top 10 things a few times.' The 'Angels' hitmaker added that although he was initially optimistic at the thought of performing, he was surprised when he realized he would be playing in a room resembling a 'wardrobe'. 'I couldn't believe how embarrassing that was! That was a shock, a shock. Then they take you to a back room and they're like, 'This is where you're going to perform!' I said: 'What please? This is a wardrobe!' I get it - so it doesn't matter who you are, this is where you just start,' said Robbie.
